Session Photos: CN Lester

Here are a few photos taken at a recording session with singer/songwriter (and mezzo-soprano) CN Lester. From what I got to watch on the day the album in progress is heavy on beautiful vocals and strong piano, comprising both original songs and a few choice covers.

Cockpit Competition

Cockpit Design

This is my design submission to a competition run by a Rock Nightclub/ Music Venue in Leeds called The Cockpit. They wanted a design to be printed on 5,000 natural coloured shopper bags, as advertising for the club. The only limitations were the size, that it had to be black and white and that the logo had to beĀ prominentĀ in the design. I wanted to use patterning from the start as well as throw in a few rock related symbols to try and catch a flavour of the club and its usual crowd. Whether I have a chance of winning or not, I feel happy with the outcome.

Preview: Dream Land

Dream Land

Dream Land

Dream Land

Dream Land

Here’s a quick preview of a recently finished university project. It involves folding and collage and hopes to visualise the concept that during dreams everything seems logical, but when you wake you realise how illogical it really was.

Humans As Ornaments- Interior artwork

Humans As Ornaments inside

Humans As Ornaments inside

This is some of the interior artwork for the Humans As Ornaments cover in my last post. In this image I simply splice the front and back of the artists head (to form the artwork behind the cd area).

Humans As Ornaments- cover

Here is some recent work I’ve done for the new band Humans as Ornaments. This is the first cover, taking the founder/songwriters face and creating a collage of different orientations. The client had the initial idea for wanting to splice together different images of his face and I brought it to fruition with my own radial slices idea and my own photography, using multiple angles, each shot with two different lighting situations.

Illogical dream test

Illogical dream test

This is a test image from my current project where I am visualising dreams. When folded this image becomes a simple photo of a mirror (the logical way you see the world you are dreaming) but when opened it reveals this confusing patchwork (to represent how when you wake you realise that what you have been dreaming is actually completely illogical). The quote is from a well-known scene of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, from the same monologue as the famous line “we are such stuff as dreams are made on”.

April Monochrome

Here are a few of my favourite photos taken from a current uni project. I have been taking photographs of places and parts within them that are most prolific in my memories.
